HOW I READ: LES MIS

      a) Something about LES MIS that I like so far is how the author portrays certain words to show foreshadowing and certain meanings.      b) Three techniques Victor Hugo used in LES MIS that made it effective are Connotation , Characterization , and Syntax .  CONNOTATION = This technique allowed me to see certain parts of the book where it implied foreshadowing CHARACTERIZATION = This technique allowed me to understand certain aspects of the words that indirectly described the bishop SYNTAX = This technique made me see that it's okay to have run-on sentence as long as they make see sense

LES MIS CH 8

First impression what in the heck, the drunk was rude but it was pretty interesting to see what he had to say. God, isn't good? Also, Gilded? Like the bible sometimes is? That man sounds creative with his words.

LES MIS CH 6

 - WHAT? this man is kind of crazy lol. -I understand that this bishop has almost close to no fears -the bishop is one to sacrifice his own things for others in need of help

LES MIS CH 5

- I can relate to this bishop. he sleeps very little and so do i. It's come to the point where my mom finds me up at 4am doing work. -WOW, the people sure do love the BISHOP. He's special \-('~')-/

How we read

Reading is supposed to be fun, but sometimes reading for school is a challenge. Here are four ways we can have more fun reading and do it better at the same time. -Read books you love and/or find interesting  -Seek to better understand the books you don't love and try and see the other's point of view on the topi -Reconsider how you define the word read, make what are your interpretations of what you see in the text - Stop looking for the easy way out, in other words, the answers, and start finding them by context and seek confidence in what you think of them

QUESTIONS:  1. What is the difference between a sign and a symbol?  -The difference between a sign and a symbol is that a sign is telling you something that will happen and a symbol is just telling you what something represents. 2. What are the three elements of the symbolic relationship (the "blue triangle of meaning")? -Three elements of the symbolic relationship are  thought,  symbol , and a referent.    3. Is a word a sign or a symbol? Why? -A symbol. A word is telling something, almost like a story or instruction.  It is telling you what to do, an example could be a stop sign at the end of a street, it represents an action you must take.  4. Describe one natural sign that you've seen in the world. -One natural sign I've seen in the world is when you are about to puke. your mouth releases this certain liquid indicating that you are about to barf out your guts (not literally but, you know what I mean)  5. Describe one symbol you've seen in the world. What (refe

Why I choose what I choose

Having chosen the Secret Garden by  Franc es Hodgson Burnett, I wanted to reminisce on what I previously read back when I was in the 4th or 5th grade. From what I remembered, a kid couldn't leave his room and spent most of his time missing his mother when his cousin arrived to stay at his home. There was this little girl who was orphaned after her parents were killed by a disease, Mary I believe, was then s ent off to live with her uncle who lived in a mansion with his servants and his son. I used to have dreams about the lesson I learned from that book and now that I am almost twice that age I wanted to see how different I perceived the story having gone through certain experiences of my own.
